Kirby Ann Basken (born August 12, 1985) is a Norwegian model. She was born in Lørenskog, Norway to a Norwegian father and a Filipino mother. On April 9, 2007, she won the coveted title of Miss Norway-Universe and represented Norway in the Miss Universe pageant held in Mexico City in May 2007. She first took a shot at Frøken Norge or Miss Norway in January, 2006, where she placed second place. She also won the title of Miss Photogenic and was declared Olympus Face of the Year. Being of Filipino-Norwegian descent, she represented the Filipino community in Scandinavia in the Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant in June 2006, where she bagged the title Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia-Pacific International and three other special awards: Best in Long Gown, Calayan Best Skin and Miss Philippine International Hairdressers Association (PIHA). She then represented the Philippines in the Miss Intercontinental pageant held in Nassau, Bahamas in October 2006 where she emerged among the top 12 semifinalists. Besting over 2000 participants, Kirby Ann Basken is the first Filipino-Norwegian to win the title of Frøken Norge. Her victory evoked cheers among the Filipinos in Europe, and a Press Release was issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs in the Philippines announcing her victory in the country. Kirby Ann Basken is the first Filipino-Norwegian to hold national beauty titles in two countries in a span of one year: Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia-Pacific 2006/Philippines and Frøken Norge 2007/Norway.

Kirby Ann Basken worked as a TV-host for Sonen (TV2 Zebra) and a radio host for a youth program in Tinig Pinoy (The Voice of Filipinos). At present, she works as a fashion model in Norway (Oslo Fashion Week/Oslo Fashion Awards) and abroad. She has appeared in Norwegian magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Mag, Se & Hør, Her & Nå, and in foreign magazines such as Metro, Candy, Chalk, People Asia and Cosmopolitan. She also appeared on the front cover of FHM Norway, August 2007, was featured in FHM Australia, December 2007 and in FHM’s Annual Issue “The Girls of FHM 2007” among the 58 most beautiful women in the world. In December 2007, she was named as one of the 33 most beautiful women in Norway by Elle Mann. She also appears in TV commercials for national television in the Philippines. She will soon appear in Norway’s version of Deal Or No Deal.

It was a daunting task to give a futuristic look to Priyanka Chopra in Love Story 2050 .Believe it or not, it took six months for director Harry Baweja , make-up artist Mickey Contractor, and hair stylist Thea to finalize Priyanka’s look in the film. The trio had to wrack their brains trying to imagine what the fashion and style trends would be in year 2050. Marian Gracia Rivera, more popularly known as Marian Rivera (born August 12, 1984 in Madrid, Spain) is an Filipina actress and commercial model. She rose to fame for her title role in the Philippine remake of MariMar. Rivera’s father is a Spaniard named Francisco Javier Gracia while her mother is a Filipina named Amalia Rivera. Her parents separated when she was 2 years of age. While her parents stayed in Spain where her mother worked as an OFW, and Marian was sent to live with her grandmother in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines. Rivera began her career as a ramp and commercial model, which landed her with an appearance on TV advertisements for Skin White Lotion and Sky Flakes crackers Production company TAPE Inc. then signed her to cast in a series of afternoon soap operas for GMA Network: Kung Mamahalin Mo Lang Ako, Agawin Mo Man Ang Lahat and Pinakamamahal. Oyo Boy Sotto was her leading man in these soaps. GMA Network then cast her into mother roles for the afternoon Philippine-Malaysian drama Muli and the primetime telefantasya Super Twins.

Rivera rose to fame when she won an audition for the title role of MariMar, the remake of the Mexican telenovela which starred Thalía. MariMar premiered on August 13, 2007 with a 36.6% rating. Her team-up with Dingdong Dantes, who plays as her leading man Sergio Santibañez, proved to be a huge success. She also branched out in the music industry with the release of a dance album Marian Rivera Dance Hits, wherein she did not record the songs but instead presented the choreography of each track.

Controversy

Dyesebel shooting Incident
In a shooting of Dyesebel, a controversy surrounded on a YouTube video named “Marian Scandal”. It is all about the shouting of vulgar words and slapping of her poor fan. An unidentified man caught her using a recording camera but Rivera got angry and shouted him to stop and unexpectedly said bad words. According to Marian, she has no PA (personal assistant) in the set because the said PA is pregnant. A said video about a feud of Rivera and an unidentified man was a verbal issue and not a slapping issue. She threw her words about a video “Kahit payat at maliit ako, hindi ako papayag apihin. Caviteña ako, lalaban ako! Walang nang-aapi sa akin!” (”Even I’m slim and petite, I will not be oppressed. I’m a Caviteña, I will fight! No one can oppress me!”). She denied that she was snobbish to him. But a lot of her fans and as well as the other people were so angry and didn’t like her because of the said issue.

FHM 100 Sexiest Women voting
Another controversy is about the irregularities in the FHM Philippines 100 Sexist Women. According to the delayed “current results” of FHM Philippines’ 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll, Marian Rivera is now (allegedly) in the no. 1 position while Angel Locsin dropped to no. 4.
According to Reggee Bonoan on his “Showbiz Atbpa.” column in Balita, a number of people have seen the last update by FHM with regards to the ongoing “100 Sexiest” poll wherein the Dyesebel star has overtaken the top spot from Angel Locsin. Prior to the deadline of the poll, reports proliferated on blogs and even on primetime news last week that Angel Locsin is leading the said poll by more than 7,000 votes. Following her is previous winner Katrina Halili and in third place is Marian Rivera.
But unfortunately, the rival Men’s Magazine Maxim Philippines, the leading men’s magazine in the world declares Angel Locsin as its Sexiest Woman in the Philippines through peoples votes and this was supported by majority of the fans in the Philippines

Robert Rodriguez, director of Grindhouse, Sin City and From Dusk Till Dawn, was married to and had five kids with Elizabeth Avellan. During the filming of Grindhouse in 2006, he met Rose McGowan and began an affair. Elizabeth eventually found out and Robert had to stop production for a month to recover.

Rodriguez and McGowan made their first public appearance at Cannes. He later began pushing studios to cast her as the lead in at least three of his next movies, a remake of Barbarella, Red Sonja and Woman in Chains. They were even rumored to be engaged last year. Life was looking up for Rose, until today.

Page Six reports that the two have broken up and Rose is no longer being considered as the lead for any of those movies. Especially the $70 million Barbarella remake. The studio, once worried that Rose McGowan didn’t have enough box-office drawing power, are now considering Jessica Alba for the titular character.

Another trend in menswear seen from the most recent shows at Milan Fashion Week in late June was white. Seen across several different collections, men were wearing various shades of cream in their spring/summer 2009 collections. It was crisp and clean, seen in everything from casual cardigans and pants to smart business suits.

Versace did it with a button-up buttery cream cardy and white jeans, and Dolce & Gabbanna glammed it up with a cream and grey suit. If it wasn’t white, lighter tones and crisp patterns added a touch of European panache to men’s fashion. Summer scarves were worn at the neck or tucked beneath jackets, with a little chest exposed.
